Filming: Professional Interview

We decided on having 2 interviews in our news package. One person with a personal account, so in this case a parent, then a professional perspective.

The professional perspective for out news package
comes from a NHS representative.

Shahram and I went to visit the actor for this section. I set up the camera at a mid shot angle and following the rule of three, I directed the actor to face away from and to ignore the camera ad if talking directly to a person.

The mise en scene for this scene had the actor wearing professional formal clothing in a GP/office space.

I then filmed a shot to put before the actual reply to the news topic. I postitioned the camera to film a two-person scene with Shahram posing as a medical patient talking to a doctor, to put over the introductory voice over and to portray what the 'doctor's' profession involves, which is talking/advising young people.

Variety of short shots.

Hi there, long time no post! I just thought I'd update you on our filming status. Over the winter break I filmed several shots outdoors of young people smoking, cigarette packets and lighters and cigarettes.

Also I did more filming for the title sequence as the group decided we needed more shots to fill up another one of the picadilly circus screens.

We're still in the process of doing our main footage and more variety of filler shots. So I'll keep you more up to date once I've got more to show you.

Voice Over

Today me and Shahram completed the voice over, we recorded each section of the script separately in order to make it easier for the final piece which we will edit. We used garageband to record our voice over and also used a microphone in order to get the highest quality of recording.

Location Recce

We will be visiting various hot spots within central london to film our various pieces for our news package. 

As a group we will go out to central london in order to complete the footage for our news package. We will be meeting on Saturday 2nd Febuary 2013 and go out to specific area which we will record within central london. There are going to be some health and safety issues such as the camera being at risk of getting stolen, also the weather ruining the camera and equipment we are using. Also when we are recording we may obstruct the way of paths which will cause people to have to walk past us causing a health and safety risk. 

Akin, Shahram and Jasmine are all going to go out as a group and complete our recording for our news package CLN. We will all be taking turns in recording some parts of the news package which will give us all a chance to participate fully in the completion of our news package. The equipment that we will use will consist of a tripod, video camera and the clip mic.

Filming Title Sequence

Today me & Shahram will go out to central london and film parts of our title sequence such as the shots of people smoking and other shots such as cigarettes at corner shops. These shots will hopefully give the audience a short introduction to the news package and hopefully give them a clear visual about what the news package will be about and what it will contain.

Website Progression - creating articles

I'm baaack! your now locked on shahram moosa's blog...That's Right!!! so this one goes out to all my people, and I'm going to do it like this.

So i started off by getting the log in details for our WIX website from a fellow group member and then began by working on the different pages within our website, the main pages that interested me were the "Sports" and "Arts and Entertainment" page.

This is where i felt i could make the most contribution as part of a group to get the most out of our website and because i read the news and watch TV a lot of the times, I'm up to date with the latest stories happening around the world.

Having said that i decided to base the sports page of our website on the recent boxing fight between "Manny Pacquiao" and "Juan Manuel Marquez" i found this to be a good story as it shows boxing as its best and shows two elite boxing athletes representing the boxing industry, reviews have shown and critics said that it went down as one of the best fights in history showing the excitement in sports.

Furthermore i then decided to base the arts & entertainment page on the biggest singing competition in the world which I'm sure your all aware of...THE X-FACTOR! i personally felt that this topic will bring out a lot of entertainment as the contestants who sing for their fate narrowed down from 12 to the final 2, with two of the best singers to have come on the show, it ended with a victory to James Arthur and the second position went out to Jahmene Douglas.

To create the articles i simply added original content written by me for both the sports page and the arts & entertainment page, i then searched for some images relating to the story and then put it all together to make a professional looking article as part of our WIX website.

News Package - Storyboard

December 5th... this may be my last blog for this coursework, so anyways i would like to begin by saying that i shahram moosa, one of the members of the CLN group recorded a video clip of our news package storyboard and uploaded it through YouTube, furthermore i also drew a sketch for our news package project based on our news group CLN, you can see i have organised the sheet in terms of 9 frames, where i have drawn the order chronologically from what appears right from start to finish.

The structure of our storyboard which i have sketched on paper goes from the following:

1. (Voice over + filler shots) there is a voice over as various filler shots are displayed on the screen such as smoking and cigarette related images
2. (Normal interview) there is an interview with parents or guardian speaking about their views on smoking, the parent is usually from a family where one of the child in the family smokes so the interview will be in more depth with detail as its a personal experience
3. (News strip band/label + voice over) there is a mid shot of the news strip while a voice over explains what the news strip is displaying from the normal parent interview
4. (Voice over + filler shots) there is another voice over with some more filler shots relating to effects smoking have on the body
5. (Expert interview) there is an expert interview with a smoking specialist/consultant having a discussion with someone who is currently smoking giving them tips and advice to try and stop and so on
6. (Facts & statistics + voice over) there is several information from smoking related facts and statistics which is rehearsed from a voice over
7. (Statistic filler shot + voice over) there is a visual image of a pie chart that represents smoking related illnesses while a voice over explains this
8. (Vox pops) there is a set amount of questions that is going to be asked to the members of the public on their views on smoking and cigarettes
9. (Up sum) there is a voice over who establishes our news package and ends it in a conclusion

Here as you can see i have finally uploaded a video clip of our CLN news package storyboard after several attempts of converting the file to see if it would work but no luck however with very hard work i did manage to find a way to succeed in the end.

The quality of the video has been affected during the process of uploading it on blogger, beside that everything else is in perfect condition.
