Creating the youtube page

Hi there everyone, just like to update you on our groups progress and how far were in on our news project, so far we have covered several things such as designing the "CLN" logo, sketch designs for our logo and creating the title sequence page and now we're on the verge of making a Youtube page for our news channel "CLN".

Reason being for this is so we can attract a wider range of audience by allowing the public to access our material in so many different ways such as firstly through Youtube. Then in time the group and i are also going to create a Twitter account to hopefully get some followers so every time we release a post our viewers can be the first to read the latest updates. Furthermore we will also progress to create a Facebook page so we reach out to our fans on all platforms so we can reach our full potential and not have to look back and say "if only" *sigh* so in other words having no regrets so therefore leaving no room for improvement as we have done the best we possibly could.

Thank you ladies and gentleman.

Filming Dilemma

Over the weekend the group and I were meant to go to central London to Piccadilly circus to produce some filming footage for our news channel "CLN" so we would have something to work on ready in time for school on Tuesday. This is so we could start editing to get this project started so we can progress to the next stage. However due to the typical bipolar English weather we were unable to go out and complete this task unfortunately.

All were waiting for is a nice day to go out and capture some footage relevant to our news channel such as waiting for the lights to turn on in Piccadilly circus and record the change in the skyline so we can get take advantage of our resources and use it effectively, so in other words make the most of our trip and try to take in simply anything else that would be good in the moment.

To be continued...

This was the depressing weather on the day

Sketch designs for our news logo

Here as you can see is a picture of some raugh drafts of sketches for our news logo "CLN" on one side of A4 piece of paper, i simply brainstromed some ideas just so the group and i have a vision of how we want the logo design to look like in terms of shape, size and the layout of the logo. so in other words how its going to be displayed, once we have established what design were going with we can then decide what colours were going to consider but for now we have had discussions about a colour the whole group are happy with such as blue. furthermore any colour with white can be done as it is the main colour for the theme of our news channel but depending on the appearance and how well it stands out, but as far as i know it has been confirmed that blue and white may be the colour for our news channel logo as it has always been a the two classic mix of colours for news channel logos, in addition it still looks professional and appropriate for our target audience.

Creating Title Sequence Music

When starting the music for CLN title sequence I had some issues which I had to over come during the progression of the music. The issues which I had were that I couldn't really gather the grasp of a news title sequence music that would be appropriate to go on the title sequence. I had created a wide range of title sequence music which I showed my teacher and the reaction which I received for the pieces I had created weren't what I was expecting. So I took that time to think and then went on youtube to listen to a wide range of news title sequence music pieces being played. From that I then got a much better grasp of what I was looking for and then I started to create a few pieces which I then realised that I was getting closer and closer to the piece me and my group are looking for and finally I had created the final piece.

The software which I used to create the CLN piece was 'Garageband'. The reason I used this software on apple mac was that it gave me a much wider range of tunes, melodies, beats, etc. I used this to my advantage by creating the pieces for practise, exploring the variety of pieces and finding what was the most suitable for CLN. I used my class members to get some views and they kindly gave me positive feedback which I used to complete the final piece.

The first 6 seconds to our piece starts off with very deep bass guitar with gradually builds up to a beat and that carries on for another 10 seconds. As the piece gets closer to the end the beat carries on but the bass guitar changes to smooth jazz and the beat takes over, this goes on for another few seconds till the end. The ending is then ended with the beat in a sudden which is what me and my group have decided to do.

The process of designing the 'CLN' logo.

Hi, it’s Jasmine. As the designer of the logo I thought I’d describe how we came to making the logo with the help of the team. The process of making our logo faced several times where we altered it and felt like something was missing, whether it be the colours or shapes incorporated into it. One thing we agreed on at the beginning is that we’d go for the ‘simple but effective’ approach. So at first we were going to go with a black and white colour scheme which was literally ‘CLN’ in simple font in a white box and as simple as it was, it was also boring and plain.

We figured that we wanted to keep one of the two monotones and eventually decided we wanted the colour white on top of another colour so it would pop out, similar to the BBC news logo. We took this plain design onto Adobe Photoshop Elements, which was the only program I used throughout in terms of creating the logo as last year I became familiarised and learnt how to use the program effectively.  After testing different colours for the background we found that shades of blue worked the most effectively and decided that a blue and white scheme would be our brand colours.

Still something was missing and so because ‘CLN’ was an acronym for ‘Central London News’, we figured it was worth testing out whether or not incorporating the words into the logo would work without the logo looking too overcrowded and then it resulted into working really well on top of a white strip under ‘CLN’ with the font being the same colour as the background. The idea of putting the words in boxes instead of a strip was suggested and so we put each of the words in the same size and colour boxes instead and found it looked more appealing.

After a few tests of bevel and shadow effects on the background itself and the separate box shapes, we ended up with a result that all three of us were pleased with.

Jasmine Introduction

Hi, I'm Jasmine and am a mill hill county A2 media student part of the 'CLN' team.

Last year, I completed media AS through completing the task assignment of creating a thriller opening sequence, mainly through co-directing, scriptwriting and fulfilling the role of the main editor. During my year in AS media it was the first time I worked with several new programs and found that I excelled in editing several aspects of creating the thriller sequence and this year I will be putting the passion and skills I developed into several roles I've been allocated.

For the A2 coursework I am in charge of branding, which includes developing our logo. I have also taken up the roles of being the main editor in our news package video, scripting and storyboarding our ideas. I have a genuine interest and strive for media and hope that this experience will not only show this, but also help in improving previous and learning new skills

As a group we plan to put in extreme effort, cooperation and discussion towards every aspect of our news reports and although we have allocated different roles, we will still find ways of participating and putting forward ideas and advice for one another, to make this news package of the highest standard. Our first task we have planned to do as a group is to plan our title sequence and produce the music for it.

Shahrams introduction

Hi my names shahram and im a media student at Mill Hill County and started studying media in y12 and just recently completed my first year of AS, im now currently progressing to my last and final year of A2.

Last year i got involved in various media tasks such as creating a thriller opening sequence, and being in charge of designing the logo and title name for my thriller using adobe photoshop in addition to choosing transitions that would fit in smoothly and go with the flow of the logo with the assistance of adobe preimer, I would then analyse and evaluate how i went about this step by step to go in depth detail.

Furthermore i came up with the idea of using my voice and other members of the group to whisper the name of the title to give it a unique effect as the theme to my thriller, lastly i also done the voice over in my last years thriller opening sequence covering the different scenes explaining what was taking place similiar to a news reporter.

I also particpated in a preliminary task where i learnt numerous amounts of different camera shots, angles and movements to get used to the cinematography in media to familiarise myself with using a camera.
This year i am taking part in a news reporting channel with two other members of my class, so theres three of us in a group, we are all responsible for different sectors in the assessement, i myself am in charge of the blogging and making sure everything is up to date and uploading pictures and video clips and making the blog interactive for other visitors.

I also have another role of being in charge of the title sequence and storyboard in my news channel, aswell as the animatic stroyboard so in other words im simply doing the planning for most things and the process behind it all such as the filming for instance the location, time of day whether thats morning or night and music etc.

Akin Aydin Introduction

Hey my name is Akin Aydin and I am currently studying A2 Media along with Double ICT at Mill Hill County Sixth Form. Last year I had completed my AS Level Media course and it was a great experience for me allowing me to learn a whole load of new skills which I am going to implement in this years course of making a News report. Last year I directed the highest marked thriller in the class getting a result of 56/60 which really impressed me. This year I will be taking the role of directing the News report and will also be creating and designing the website for our News channel CLN (Central London News). Hopefully this year I will show the same amount of passion and drive to making a successful News report and making it as professional as possible.

I will also be helping out with things like the CLN logo implementing my ideas along with the groups to have an outcome which we are all pleased with. As a group we will all be helping out with the music to ensure that the News report title sequence is up to standard with our groups expectations and the professionalism of the music.

Introduction!

Hey there everyone, here we have is Shahram, Akin and Jasmine and as part of our media assessment we have been asked to come up with a news channel by our teacherr. Our group and I decided to base our brief on families and adults and how the influence of certain things lead to affecting a persons behaviour.

We will be covering a range of different aspects from smoking, stereotypes and common family issues such as health and financial problems, our group came up together with the name "CLN" for our news website which stands for Central London News which we will be broadcasting the most popular topics of today's generation as previously mentioned.

In order to access all the different types of information we will go out in public and interview people who have experienced these life events or who have been put in these situations to get a personal view on a one to one basis so we can get a full insight on how this changed their lives and made them who they are today.
